Dear Esteemed Alumni and North Point Family,

Greetings from Your Home in the Mountain!

We are thrilled to announce the the Rector’s Meritorious Award 2024 will be conferred upon Mr. Deven Gurung, President of the Darjeeling North Point School Alumni Association (DNPSAA), in recognition of his outstanding dedication and service to the North Point community and beyond.

Mr. Gurung has been an exemplary alumnus of St. Joseph’s School North Point, actively contributing to the growth and success of the DNPSAA since its inception in 1998. His steadfast commitment to the values of the school and the Jesuit maxim of “Being Men for Others” has made him a role model for North Pointers around the world.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Gurung has held various key positions within the DNPSAA, including:

• Assistant Secretary (2008-2013)
• Secretary (2013-2016)
• President (2016-present)

Under his leadership as President, Mr. Gurung has spearheaded numerous initiatives that reflect the true spirit of North Point. Some of his notable accomplishments include:

• Organising the Darjeeling The World cup Town 2018 event to raise funds for the Fr. Van Memorial Clinic on Wheels project, which provides essential medical aid to the needy in remote areas of the Darjeeling hills.
• Leading over 20 medical camps in undeserved regions through the Clinic on Wheels initiative, bringing much-needed healthcare to those who otherwise have limited access.
• Organising numerous reunions and events to keep the spirit of North Point alive among former students.
• Serving as the President of the North Zone Jesuit Alumni Association of India (JAAI) in 2022, representing Jesuit alumni across the nation.

Through his tireless efforts, Mr. Gurung has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the ideals of St. Joseph’s School North Point. 

We invite all member of the North Point community to join us in celebrating Mr. Deven Gurung’s remarkable contributions during Rector’s Day celebration on 8th October 2024, where he will be presented with the Rector’s Meritorious Award.
